At East Cobb United Methodist Church, we strive to engage in Christian
ministry which accomplishes what we believe to be God's mission for us
as a church:
We believe each phrase of this mission is
biblically based, and gives us a framework out of which all of our
ministries and activities proceed:
Sharing the LOVE of Jesus
(1 John 4:11-20) --
We believe this means we are called by God to welcome and
accept others
in the same unconditional, selfless way that Jesus welcomes
and accepts us.
Sharing the LIGHT of Jesus
(Matthew 5:14-16) --
We believe this means we are called by God to first allow
His presence in our
lives to transform us into more Christlike people by the
power of His Holy Spirit,
and then to allow our transforming and transformed lives to
point others towards
God so that they can experience His transforming presence
for themselves.
Our Changing World
(Isaiah 43:16-21) –-
We believe this means we are called by God to discover
creative ways to share
the unchanging “good news” of Christ’s hope with the chaos
of our constantly
changing culture and community.
We understand each of these three dimensions of our mission to be
integrally woven into each and every ministry of our church, including
our worship, Christian education and spiritual growth, music,
evangelism, mission/outreach, and ministries to children, youth, and
adults.

Our LOGO is a lighthouse,
reminding us that we as a church and as individual Christians are to be
a “light” that points others away from the “rocky shores” of life (such
as fear, hopelessness, and despair), and towards the “safety” of a life
of peace, hope and joy with God through an intimate relationship with
His son Jesus Christ.
